November is National Diabetes Month: Control Your Diabetes through Exercise
One of the most powerful medicines we have access to is free. What is this super-drug? It’s exercise. In fact, people living with diabetes can lower their blood sugars and improve their health by indulging in daily exercise or physical activities. Just ten minutes of exercise can assist with lowering blood sugars for the next 72 hours, said Pam Boeck, a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator at Norman Regional’s Outpatient Diabetes Center.

Diabetes Health Fair Offers Free Screenings, Information
Norman Regional’s Diabetes Center will host a free Diabetes Health Fair from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tues. November 16 at the Norman Regional Hospital Education Center, 901 N. Porter. This free event will feature free blood pressure screenings, blood glucose meters, diabetes information, healthy nutrition booth, the newest diabetes products, door prizes, nutritious snacks and much more!
Dr. Lubna Mirza, a specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, will give a presentation titled, “Sticks and Stones May Break Your Bones.” Dr. Mirza is also board certified in Internal Medicine. Call (405) 307-5730 for more information. No registration is required.
